Functional substitution method for differential equations with physical applications

Abstract: Functional substitution method is proposed to solve ordinary differential equations. The method depends on making a general functional substitution and then simplifying the equation by selecting a special form of the function and its argument. The method is applied to linear and nonlinear ordinary differential equations of first and second order. Mathematical models representing physical phenomena of dynamics and heat transfer are treated with this method.
