Applications of queuing theory in day-to-day life: An analytical review

Author(s): Ravi Kumar Verma

Abstract: Mathematical study of waiting line or queues is known as queuing theory. Through the integration of mathematical analysis of various related processes, queuing theory is enabled. Through this theory different performance measures can be derived and calculated. Components that are active in the working of this theory are serving time, waiting time and duration. Theory of queuing has an integral role due to so many applications based on this theory. There are many situations in daily life when a queue is formed. Queuing theory is the mathematical study of waiting lines and it is very useful for analysing the procedure of queuingof daily life of human being. Queuing theory applies not only in day-to-day life but also in sequence of computer programming, networks, medical field, banking sectors etc. In this paper, we analyse the basic features of queuing theory and its applications. This research paper is based on different theories of queuing systems, along with its effective applications by secondary quantitative research methodology.
