Mathematical innovations in calculus during the Vedic era
Author(s): Dr. Sher Singh Raikhola
Abstract: The Vedic era, spanning from approximately 1500 BCE to 500 BCE, marked a period of significant advancements in various fields, including mathematics. This paper explores the contributions of Vedic mathematicians to the early development of calculus. Through the examination of ancient texts such as the Sulba Sutras and other Vedic literature, we uncover evidence of sophisticated mathematical concepts and techniques that predate many of the foundational principles of modern calculus. Key contributions include the use of infinitesimal quantities, early methods of integration, and geometric insights that laid the groundwork for later mathematical theories. The analysis highlights the intellectual prowess of Vedic scholars and their role in the evolution of mathematical thought.
